When I signed-up, in the winter of 2020, to run the Berlin Marathon, I had the grand idea of making it a year of heritage; enrolling in German 101 and breaking out my mom’s genealogy research to study where my relatives immigrated from. Then of course, we all know what happen in March 2020… I tried again in 2021 but charity spots were cancelled due to the Delta variant. Last year, 2022, my Father died and grief deterred me. Now it is 2023, and here I am, ready to take on and conquer the Berlin Marathon.
I’m running this race, foremost, on behalf of the kids at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp! This is my 3rd Marathon and 5th run fundraising for this cause I love. But it’s YOUR donations and generosity and support that actually make the tangible difference in their lives. I’m just the person pounding the pavement, which is a privilege in itself. Sometimes in the mist of exhausting training I lose sight of the gifts that i’ve been given — working lungs, an healthy able body, and a drive to get me to the end. It is my joy to have this opportunity.
I invite you to join me on my training adventure, to donate towards this worthy cause, to read along and to laugh at my tomato face runs!
I dedicate this run to my Dad.
